Gabriele Giussani is a photographer and filmmaker who combines different technologies, from analogue formats to new approaches to image processing. Originally emerging as a rock musician, his practice is experimental and raw, sharp-edged and gritty, constantly moving through the space between music and visual arts. The imagery of 1990s music and the world surrounding it have shaped his visual language, which he now applies to fashion, portraiture, and landscape across different media. Gabriele considers the glitch, or error, to be an added value. By “error,” he refers to the use of technologies designed for different purposes in order to achieve aesthetic results, as well as the conscious adoption of techniques considered “wrong” when applied to video and photography. Throughout his personal and professional development, he has collaborated with various artists, including Armin Linke, Claudio Sinatti, Christopher Anderson, Juergen Teller, and many others.
